Saucony is a brand focused on sportswear, athletic shoes and sports accessories. The brand was founded in 1898 in the U.S. Pennsylvania by four businessmen. The goal from the beginning of its founding was to break into the running world. Saucony was there early: as early as 1910, Saucony was producing 800 pairs of shoes a day. The brand's first running shoe was the 7446 Spike. But it wasn't until the 1970s that the brand really became known. In 1979, even two running shoes from Saucony were named in the top 10 of Runner's World Magazine. The name and logo "Saucony" were inspired to the Saucony Creek, a river in Pennsylvania. The Saucony logo symbolizes the constant flow of the Saucony Creek with three boulders in it, forming the bed of the river. Due to confusion over the correct pronunciation of Saucony, "sock a knee" was once printed on the brand's shoe boxes to show the correct pronunciation.
The variety of different shoes Saucony produces is quite extensive. From running shoes, to trail shoes to shoes for sprinting and hiking. Each of these types of shoes is made with a different technology to match the type of activity. Also, Saucony shoes are created based on foot size, type of activity, foot arch, pronation and (running) location of the runner. The technique used by Saucony, among others, is GRID technology. This technique is designed to improve shock absorption and alter running patterns for support and control. ISOKNIT technology is also incorporated into Saucony's shoes. This technology, used from 2019, is a combination of the ISOfit system with a knitted upper to improve the breathability of Saucony sneakers.
There are a number of iconic Saucony models that have come on the market over the years and quickly became beloved shoes. One of these are the "Jazz," which came on the market in 1981. Together with podiatrists, this running shoe was developed with a focus on comfort and minimizing the impact of running on your feet. The Jazz are still one of the most successful Saucony sneakers. In the mid-1980s, in 1985, the Shadow entered the market as high-performance sneakers. These were a sort of advanced version of the Jazz, with a reinforced heel. A few years later, in 1988, the Azura's were released. The Azura is a lightweight running shoe and features a synthetic upper. These three iconic models are quite similar in appearance and all have a retro look. Starting in the 2000s, Saucony released more futuristic models, such as the Peregrine (2011) and the Endorphin Pro (2020). Saucony sneakers guarantee quality and performance, partly due to collaborations with Bodega and Raised By Wolves, among others. Saucony sneakers are therefore very popular with athletes of every caliber as well as sneakerheads! With years of experience, they have developed sneakers that are sturdy and comfortable but also have the looks. At Sneaker District you will find these comfy Saucony sneakers in different colors and with materials like leather, suede, nubuck and mesh!
